For the first time, Formula 1 visited the Californian port town of Long Beach. Could Ferrari continue their perfect start to the season, or would McLaren and Tyrrell have the final say on the tight street circuit?

This sporting tragedy is the most catastrophic accident in motor racing history. Pierre Levegh’s Mercedes crashed
and blew up at 125mph, killing Levegh and sending debris flying in to the crowd at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
83 people were killed and 120 were injured.

The 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 27th Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on June 20 and 21 1959. It was also the fourth round of the World Sportscar Championship.

The greatest endurance race in the world is the ultimate mix of high-speed action, drama and skill and the 1985 running of the Le Mans 24 hours race was no exception.

and a very special day for the team.

Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
